Jonathan came to Westy World back in 2017 looking to to build his dream van. The decision was to start with a California smog exempt chassis and upgrade/refurbish the entire van. Papa Smurf was completely stripped down to the chassis. Cabinets were refurbished where needed with new laminate. Upholstery replaced down to the new foam. Custom two stage paint job with multiple coats of base and clear coating. Custom Westy World HD Bumpers with accessories. Most everything that could be upgraded or replaced was done professionally. Engine started with a 6cyl SVX and was recently swapped with a new Subaru 2.5 block (Approximately 6,000 miles on engine) . Transmission has been upgraded to a 5 speed Subaru manual transmission (Approximately 20K on rebuild Subagears Transmission and everything else that was replaced).

Papa Smurf has been on life changing adventures. He has spent his life on the west coast exploring mostly the south west (California, Arizona, Utah and Nevada) and a few trips to Oregon.

He has not been getting out of the garage lately and with mixed emotions Johnathan has considered putting him up for sale. “It has a special place in our hearts and it has been the center point for many of our family’s memories. Papa Smurf lives in Truckee, CA and will be stored inside our garage to keep warm and safe from the winter weather”.

Engine: Brand new Subaru 2.5L small block purchased from the dealer. Heads machined and engine rebuilt by Westy World with all new parts.

Transmission: Rebuilt 5 speed Subaru transmission with Subagears reverse kit installed.

Axles: Upgraded 944 Axles with Rockford boots.

Fuel System: South African larger fuel tank installed with all new fuel components.

Cooling System: All new cooling system with upgrade stainless steel coolant pipes.

Brakes: Small Car big disc brake kit with BMW brake booster. Rear stainless steel brake lines.

Heater: Propex Heater HS 2000

Fridge/Freezer: Upgraded AC/DC Truckfridge TF49 that included small freezer and matching laminate fridge kit surround.

Upholstery: Custom upholstery done by Westy World with all new foam. Stow and Go Pacifica Seats. Lloyd matts. Carpet Kit.

Awning: ARB Touring Awning

Charging System: 100AH Lithium Battery, Victron Monitor, Solar Panel

Air Conditioning: Cold Front Vintage Air

Paint: Interior and exterior with custom stripe. 2 stage base and clear coating. Window out and 5% window tint applied while out. Every seal replaced.

Tent: 3 window tent upgrade.

Bumpers: Front Westy World HD bumper. Rear Westy World HD bumper with custom dual locking large box and tire carrier with Hi-Jack

Power Mirrors: Upgraded with good used set and wiring harness installed.

Power Windows: Upgraded from manual windows to new power window components.

Power Locks: Upgraded all doors to power door locks.

Alarm: Clifford Alarm that triggers all the doors to lock/unlock.

Power Steering: Upgraded from manual to power steering.

GPS: Works with paid subscription.

Cabinetry: Refurbished back in 2017. Rear closet door added and interior LED lighting.

Lighting: Added to Engine compartment area, kitchen area, upper bunk and closet. Exterior LED lighting kit. 3rd brake light kit.

Instrument Cluster: Upgraded to cluster with tachometer and printed circuit board.

Axillary Ports: Added to curtain rail for upper bunk and kitchen area and b-pillar.

Racks: Yakama locking roof racks. Pop-top lift assist struts. Telescoping ladder.

Headlights: Upgrade South African Grill with high power headlights and relay upgrade.

LPG: Larger capacity propane tank with extend a stay kit.

Suspension: Upgraded Urethane bushings with Bilstein HD shocks. 21mm sway bar upgrade.

Sound System: Kenwood bluetooth short deck, Alpine 8″ Subwoofer, 4 channel amp and new speakers.

Wheels: Upgraded to 16″ Wheels with Nokian 215 60 16 tires.
